How it all started
Back in 2015, Lee joined KEYSYS as a Senior Software Architect, bringing with him a degree in Chemical Engineering with a Computer Controls Specialization from Auburn University and over 20 years of experience in full-stack development.
His journey here started with a LinkedIn message from our CEO, Jim Bob. At the time, Lee was contracting for a company in downtown Birmingham, and after a few lunch meetings with Jim Bob and Jarick, he knew KEYSYS was the right fit. And 10 years later, we’re so glad it was.
Why KEYSYS?
When asked about his experience at KEYSYS, Lee summed it up simply:
“It’s been overwhelmingly positive. We’re always looking for ways to get better, and constructive feedback is welcomed. No matter what challenge comes up, there’s almost always someone here who’s an expert on it.”
“I’ve had the chance to work with some of the most talented and dependable people I’ve ever met. In my role now, I get to work with every part of the company, and I love that.”
Career Highlights
Lee has had a hand in some amazing projects over the years, but a few stand out:
- Automating a visual inspection tool for an international manufacturer—a complex problem with a creative solution.
- Cutting IoT SIM card costs, saving six to seven figures across major U.S. carriers.
- Developing the Avancir project, where he got hands-on with RFID hardware (a nice change from the usual digital work).
“Most of what we do lives in the digital world, so working on something physical that you can actually demonstrate is always a cool experience.”
What Keeps Lee Going?
For Lee, the variety of challenges is what makes KEYSYS exciting:
“I never know what kind of problem I’ll be working on next. It could be for any industry, any size company, internal or external. We rarely run into the same thing twice, which keeps me and everyone here learning and growing.”
