KEYSYS Partners with RVO Health for Successful Migration and Integration of Rally Health Technologies

CLIENT:

RVO Health is a top company in health and wellness, helping nearly 100 million people each month with vital health information, tools to find doctors, and ways to save money. Their mission is to make healthcare easier to access, understand, and afford. RVO Health offers a range of websites, products, and services that support people on their journey to better health.

PROBLEM:

After acquiring Rally Health from Optum, RVO Health faced a major technical challenge. They needed to move Rally Health’s client-facing technologies from Optum’s servers to their own. The key was to ensure a smooth transition for the Rally Health application, which had 10,000 daily users, without disrupting their experience.

SOLUTION:

To tackle this challenge, RVO Health partnered with KEYSYS and brought in our Senior DevOps engineer, Jimmy Harris. Harris’s deep expertise in Terraform configuration, Kubernetes, and GitOps practices was key to successfully migrating and integrating Rally Health’s technologies.

APPROACH:

KEYSYS’ approach involved three key steps:

1. Terraform Configuration: He set up the new environment using Terraform, making sure all infrastructure components were clearly defined, well-managed, and scalable.

2. Kubernetes Configuration: Harris configured a Kubernetes cluster with 28 microservices, numerous cron jobs, and integrations with external resources like databases, Kafka, RabbitMQ, Redis, S3, and DNS. This setup was crucial for keeping the application running smoothly during and after the migration.

3. GitOps Practices: Using ArgoCD and Helm, Harris implemented GitOps practices to automate the deployment of the Rally Health stack. This automation allowed for consistent and efficient updates, minimizing downtime and ensuring high availability for users.

OUTCOME:

The migration was a success. RVO Health smoothly transferred the Rally Health application to their servers without disrupting service for its 10,000 daily users. The new infrastructure, managed with Terraform and Kubernetes, is now robust and scalable, helping RVO Health continue its mission to provide accessible and affordable healthcare solutions.

IMPACT:

This case shows how crucial skilled DevOps engineering is for large migrations and the benefits of using modern tools like Terraform and Kubernetes. Thanks to effective teamwork and technical know-how, RVO Health improved its services and continued its mission to make healthcare better for millions.
