At KEYSYS, we value connection, collaboration, and the opportunity to bring our team together.
This month, we had the pleasure of welcoming Amy Siu, a software engineer from Vermont, to Birmingham for the first time. Her trip was packed with work, fun, and plenty of new experiences. Let’s take a closer look at what made exploring the Magic City so special.
Amy’s Role at KEYSYS
As a software engineer, Amy brings a strong analytical mindset, problem-solving skills, and a passion for building efficient systems. With a background in healthcare and a degree in public health, she developed the ability to assess complex processes and create solutions. Her resourcefulness and drive for continuous learning make her a valuable part of the KEYSYS team.
The In-Person KEYSYS Team Dynamic vs. Remote Work
While KEYSYS thrives in a remote-friendly environment, there’s something special about meeting face-to-face. Amy shared her thoughts on the in-person experience:
“Being in the office was such a great way to connect and collaborate. Meeting everyone in person, walking over to a desk for a quick chat, or gathering in a conference room made teamwork feel effortless. Virtual meetings are engaging, but being together in the same space brings a different level of interaction.”
Beyond Work: Exploring Birmingham
Amy’s trip wasn’t all work—she fully embraced the Birmingham experience! A few highlights:
🎤 Favorite Moment:
Watching Andrew Cartwright karaoke Toxic by Britney Spears.
🍽️ One Thing She’d Take Back to Vermont:
“If I could, I’d bring KEYSYS with me! I love how the company aligns with my values. But if I had to pick just one thing… fried green tomatoes!” (Shoutout to Tommi Peters for the great recommendation at Paw Paw’s Patch!)
🏃♀️ Most Unexpected Experience:
“I didn’t expect to do so much—celebrating Lunar New Year, singing at two karaoke bars, running a 5K, hiking North Trail, trying so many Southern dishes, and more!”
A Trip to Remember
Amy’s visit was a great reminder of the importance of fostering strong team relationships, both remotely and in person. We’re grateful she had such a memorable experience, and we look forward to welcoming her back to Birmingham again soon!
